Privacy Policy

The short version. If you leave your email, we keep it so we can tell you when Honeycomb opens. We set no cookies, run no analytics, and track nobody across the web. Email support@usehoneycomb.io at any time and we will delete what we hold about you.
Who is responsible
Honeycomb is run by Christina Willner, a sole proprietor based in Jonen, Canton Aargau, Switzerland, and she is the controller of the personal data described here. Honeycomb is an independent project and is not operated by or on behalf of any other company. You can reach her at support@usehoneycomb.io.
What we collect, and why
- Your email address
- Collected when you reserve a place or ask to be told when Honeycomb opens. We use it for that, and occasionally to ask you something about what we are building. We do not sell it, rent it, or share it for anyone else's marketing.
- Your name
- Only if you fill it in on the reservation form. It is used to address you properly in that email, and nothing turns on it being accurate.
- Which page you came from
- We record which part of the site a signup came from, so we know which explanation of Honeycomb actually lands. It is a short label attached to your signup.
- Ordinary server records
- Our hosting provider records requests to the site, including IP addresses, for a short period. This is standard infrastructure logging that keeps the site up and fends off abuse. We do not mine it and we cannot search it by person.
About the card fields on the reservation page
One page on this site presents an order form with card fields. It reserves a founding member place, it is not a shop. No payment is taken and no card details ever leave your browser. The card number, expiry date and security code are not transmitted to us, not written to any log, and not stored anywhere. When you submit the form, only your name and email address are sent, and the next page says so.
We are telling you this plainly because a form that asks for a card ought to say what happens to it. If you would rather not enter one, you can reach us at support@usehoneycomb.io instead and we will put you on the list by hand.
Who else touches your data
We keep the list of companies involved as short as we can manage:
- Vercel hosts the site, processes requests to it, and is where signups are recorded.
- Our email provider holds your address so we can write to you when Honeycomb opens.
Each of these acts on our instructions and is not permitted to use your data for its own purposes. Some of them process data outside Switzerland and the EEA, including in the United States, under the standard contractual protections those providers offer. If that concerns you, do not use the form, and email us instead.
What we deliberately do not do
- No cookies. This site sets none. Not analytics cookies, not preference cookies, none. That is also why you were not interrupted by a consent banner.
- No analytics or tracking pixels. We do not know how many of you there are, which is occasionally frustrating and entirely deliberate for now.
- No fonts loaded from third parties. The typeface is served from our own domain, so your browser never announces your visit to a font provider.
How long we keep it
Your email is kept until Honeycomb opens and we have told you about it, or until you ask us to delete it, whichever comes first. If the project is abandoned, the list is deleted. Server logs age out on the hosting provider's own short schedule.
Your rights
Under Swiss and EU data protection law you can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to our use of it, or ask for it in a portable form. Because we rely on your consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time, and every email we send will carry an unsubscribe link.
One email to support@usehoneycomb.io is enough for any of these. You do not need to explain why, and we will not try to talk you out of it. If you think we have handled your data badly, you are entitled to complain to the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner, or to the supervisory authority where you live.
Children
Honeycomb is a tool for people running software products, and this site is not aimed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
Changes
When Honeycomb opens, this policy will need to grow to cover the product itself. We will update the date at the top when it changes. If a change materially affects people already on the list, we will say so by email rather than hoping you re-read this page. What we are building, and what it is not yet, is set out in the Terms of Service.
